چکیده

Aims. We perform light curve inversion for 491 asteroids to retrieve phase parameters, rotation periods, pole longitudes and latitudes, convex triaxial ellipsoid shapes by using the sparse photometric observations from Gaia Data Release 2 dense ground-based DAMIT database. develop a method derivation of reference absolute magnitudes curves data, allowing comparative studies involving hundreds asteroids. Methods. For both general shapes, we computed least-squares solutions either Levenberg-Marquardt optimization algorithm or Nelder-Mead downhill simplex method. Virtual were generated adding Gaussian random errors observations, and, later on, Markov chain Monte Carlo was applied sample spin, shape, scattering parameters. Absolute magnitude retrieval developed geometry equatorial illumination based on model averaged over rotational phase. Results. The derived slope values showed wide variations within each assumed Tholen class. G -band matched notably well with V retrieved Jet Propulsion Laboratory Small-Body Database. Finally, fitted H , 1 function. resulting distribution differed, in an intriguing way, that is corresponding brightness maxima.

Distances and absolute magnitudes from trigonometric parallaxes

In astrophysical applications, derived quantities like distances, absolute magnitudes and velocities are used instead of the observed quantities, such as parallaxes and proper motions. As the observed values are affected by random errors and selection effects, the estimates of the astrophysical quantities can be biased if a correct statistical treatment is not used. This paper presents and disc...

Asteroid Models from the Pan-STARRS Photometry

We present simulations on the asteroid photometric data that will be provided by the PanSTARRS (Panoramic Survey Telescope and Rapid Response System). The simulations were performed using realistic shape and light-scattering models, random orientation of spin axes, and rotation periods in the range 2–24 h. We show that physical models of asteroids can be reconstructed from this data with some l...

Hipparcos absolute magnitudes for metal rich K giants and the calibration of DDO photometry

Parallaxes for 581 bright K giants have been determined using the Hipparcos satellite. We combine the trigonometric parallaxes with ground based photometric data to determine the K giant absolute magnitudes. For all these giants, absolute magnitude estimates can also be made using the intermediate band photometric DDO system (Janes 1975, 1979). We compare the DDO absolute magnitudes with the ve...

Absolute Magnitudes of Chemically Peculiar

The position of diierent kinds of CP stars of the upper Main Sequence (i.e. Am stars and the four categories of Ap stars: He-weak, HgMn, Si and SrCrEu) in the HR diagram is examined. Using only those stars having a parallax with a relative error smaller than 0.14 ((M v) 0:3) and an absolutely certain peculiarity, it is shown that their absolute magnitudes are similar to those obtained from CP s...
